This is a very nice example having brass bells, cowrie shells with leatherwork and a wooden central figure/amulet with metal eyes. Possibly pewter. The old label 'Yoruba devil charm'. These were worn around the wrist of Eshu devotees during dances and masquerades.
Provenance: The Reverent Edward Thomas Pakenham, Church Missionary Society Superintendent. Stationed in Owo, Oshogbo and Lagos 1909-1921.
