Osanyin staffs are used by the priests or herbalists of the Yoruba tribe. They use Osanyin, the spirit of herbal medecines in their work against mental and physical illness. They belive that the power of Osanyin is vested in the iron staff, they place this on the altar of Orisha. (A spirit who reflects one of the manifestations of the supreme divinity)
